Thanksgiving Side Dish - Brussels Sprouts

Updated: Oct 3, 2018

Thanksgiving is coming up this weekend, have you thought about what your bringing to dinner? Try these super easy, super delicious Brussels Sprout recipe - ready in under 30 minutes!

Either you love them or hate them: BRUSSELS SPROUTS.

This recipe we are sharing is a delicious twist to a classic Thanksgiving side dish. This Brussels sprouts recipe calls for our beloved BACON! MMM! Whether or not you enjoy them, you have to give these a try - we promise this recipe may change your mind!

TIP: Instead of purchasing regular supermarket bacon, try a butcher shop or specialty food market and look for black-forest/thickly sliced bacon. It not only tastes better, but has less chemicals and ingredients! We personally love Viks Meats in downtown Grimsby for their Award-Winning Country Style Bacon (and everything else!).

This is a recipe that you can make closer to dinner time as it only take max 30 minutes to prepare!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2lb of Bacon (or 8 strips) - if using grocery store bacon, use whole package.

  • 1lb of Brussels Sprouts (stemmed & halved)

  • 1 Large Shallot, diced

  • Salt & Pepper

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400F degrees. Lay bacon in a cast iron skillet (or frying pan) and cook until crispy. After done cooking, set on a paper-towel lined plate and crumble into pieces.

2. Place Brussels sprouts and diced shallot into skillet and toss to coat. Add salt and pepper to your liking then transfer to oven to roast for 10 minutes - then stir. Roast for an additional 10-15 minutes or until sprouts are golden brown. Remove from oven, and stir in crumbled bacon.

3. Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Fun fact: did you know the small the Brussels sprout, the sweeter the taste?

*This is a Paleo and Keto friendly diet recipe!
